Mayfair is the undisputed capital of London's VIP nightlife. Contained within roughly one square mile β between Oxford Street, Park Lane, Piccadilly and Regent Street β this neighbourhood packs in more top-tier clubs, members bars and private dining rooms than anywhere else in the country. If you're planning a serious night out in London, Mayfair is where it starts.
But not every Mayfair club is right for every group. This guide breaks down the top venues by vibe, music, minimum spends and who they're best for.
1. Tape London β best for: celebrity atmosphere and hip hop
There is no venue in Mayfair with a higher celebrity pull than Tape. Set on Bruton Lane in a converted townhouse, it's deliberately small β around 300 capacity β with a sound system built for R&B and hip hop. Tables are split across a mezzanine level and dancefloor-adjacent booths.
Tape is the go-to for Premier League footballers, music industry insiders and fashion-world regulars. If you want to be in a room where something might happen, this is it.
Best nights: Friday (Mixtape), Saturday (Takeover)
Table minimum: From Β£2,000 (Fri) / Β£2,500+ (Sat)
Music: Hip Hop, R&B, Afrobeats
Age: 21+
2. Maddox β best for: a polished, high-spend experience
Maddox on Mill Street is the closest London gets to a Las Vegas superclub within a boutique space. The venue is known for exceptional service, extravagant bottle presentations (sparkler processions are standard) and an older, more affluent crowd. Music leans commercial hip hop and R&B chart.
Tables at Maddox come with a true VIP experience β dedicated hosts, premium spirit service and a crowd where designer is the baseline. If you're celebrating a birthday or an occasion that demands spectacle, Maddox delivers.
Best nights: Thursday (House Hits), Saturday
Table minimum: From Β£2,500 (Thu) / Β£3,500+ (Sat)
Music: Hip Hop, R&B, Chart Hits
Age: 21+
3. The Cuckoo Club β best for: the classic Mayfair night out
The Cuckoo Club has been a Mayfair institution since 2005. It occupies a stunning bi-level space on Swallow Street with a dramatic upper-level bar overlooking the main dancefloor. The crowd is mixed β students with older professionals, models with city workers β which gives it a more democratic feel than its peers while still being firmly in the premium tier.
It runs Wednesday through Saturday and is one of the more consistent performers in Mayfair week to week. A strong choice for a first-time Mayfair visit or groups that want to be sure they'll have a good night rather than chasing prestige.
Best nights: Friday, Saturday
Table minimum: From Β£1,500 (Fri) / Β£2,000 (Sat)
Music: Commercial, R&B, Hip Hop, House
Age: 21+
4. MNKY HSE β best for: Latin vibes and Afrobeats
MNKY HSE (Monkey House) on Dover Street is part restaurant, part late-night bar, part club β it does all three well. The basement club space is intimate and dark, playing Latin, Afrobeats and R&B until 3:30am Wednesday through Saturday. The crowd is well-dressed, diverse and tends to actually dance rather than just pose.
MNKY HSE is a strong pick if your group doesn't want a pure club experience β the restaurant upstairs means you can start the evening with dinner and flow straight into the basement without changing venue.
Best nights: Friday, Saturday
Table minimum: From Β£1,000 (mid-week) / Β£2,000+ (weekends)
Music: Latin, Afrobeats, R&B
Age: 21+
5. Funky Buddha β best for: the best of Mayfair without the attitude
Funky Buddha on Berkeley Street is one of the most consistently enjoyable clubs in Mayfair β partly because it attracts a crowd that wants to have a good time rather than be seen. The split-level venue has a dancefloor, a cocktail bar and booth seating around the perimeter. Music is hip hop, R&B and house.
Table minimums are among the lowest in Mayfair for this tier, making Funky Buddha a practical choice for groups that want the Mayfair experience without committing to a five-figure bottle spend.
Best nights: Thursday, Friday, Saturday
Table minimum: From Β£800 (Thu) / Β£1,500 (Sat)
Music: Hip Hop, R&B, House
Age: 21+
6. Tabu London β best for: younger crowd and late nights
Tabu is Mayfair's most accessible club in terms of age range and minimum spend. It runs from 10:30pm, making it one of the earlier starts in the area. The crowd skews 18β25 and the music is uncompromisingly R&B and hip hop. It runs Wednesday through Saturday.
Tables at Tabu have some of the lowest minimums in Mayfair, making it a good entry point if you're newer to the London VIP scene or working with a tighter budget for bottle service.
Best nights: Friday, Saturday
Table minimum: From Β£600 (Wed) / Β£1,200 (Sat)
Music: R&B, Hip Hop
Age: 18+
7. Selene London β best for: a boutique, late-night finish
Selene is one of Mayfair's newer additions β a boutique club running Thursday through Saturday with a focus on house, hip hop and R&B. It's smaller than most of its competitors, which means a more intimate and exclusive feel. The crowd is well-dressed and the table service is attentive.
Selene works well as a second venue in a night β start somewhere earlier and move to Selene from 1am onwards for a late-night finish.
Best nights: Friday, Saturday
Table minimum: From Β£1,500 (Fri) / Β£2,000 (Sat)
Music: House, Hip Hop, R&B
Age: 18+
8. Mahiki β best for: tropical cocktails and a party atmosphere
Mahiki is the longest-running Mayfair nightclub still operating in its original spirit β a tiki-themed late night bar and club that has been a fixture on Dover Street since 2006. It's popular with groups looking for a more fun, less serious night out. Music is mainstream pop and commercial, cocktails are the main event, and the dress code is smart-casual rather than strictly formal.
Mahiki divides opinions among London nightlife purists, but as a high-energy night out it consistently delivers β especially for birthday groups or mixed-age parties.
Best nights: Friday, Saturday
Music: Pop, Commercial, Party Hits
Age: 18+
