The Argentine Open polo tournament is the centrepiece of polo in Argentina, and the final in Palermo is the day most visitors to Buenos Aires want to see. This guide sets out what is known about the 2026 tournament, where it is played, how hospitality works for the final, and how to plan a trip around it. Where the organiser has not yet published a detail, we say so rather than guess.
What the Argentine Open is
The Abierto Argentino de Polo is the most important tournament in Argentina’s Triple Crown, a set of three major polo events that also includes the Abierto de Tortugas and the Abierto de Hurlingham. It brings the leading teams and players together to decide the Argentine champion, and it is promoted to visitors from overseas as well as to the home crowd. The Asociación Argentina de Polo, which runs the sport in Argentina, has announced the 133rd edition for 2026.
The tournament is played at the Campo Argentino de Polo in the Palermo district of Buenos Aires, a polo ground inside the city itself. That is a large part of the appeal for a visitor: the final is a short journey from the hotels and restaurants of the capital, not a long drive into the countryside.
2026 dates and the final
Our listing shows the 2026 Argentine Open running from 10 November to 13 December 2026, with the final on 12 and 13 December. The tournament is played over several weekends between November and December, and the Argentine tourism board describes the event as peaking in December.
One caution. At the time of writing (19 October 2026) the association’s own website did not yet carry the full match calendar, so exact match days, kick-off times and the order of the final weekend are to be confirmed. If you are booking flights, hold the two final days for the trip and treat everything else as provisional until the fixture is published. We will confirm the detail to anyone who enquires as soon as it is available.
Watching the final in Palermo
The final is a single occasion in the sense that matters: two teams, the national title and the largest crowd of the tournament. A few practical points apply to any visit to the ground.
- The ground is in the city. The Campo Argentino de Polo is in Palermo, so you can stay within the neighbourhood or nearby and avoid a long transfer on the day.
- Plan for the weather. December is early summer in Buenos Aires. Bring sun protection and plan for heat, with a layer in case the evening turns.
- Arrive early. Big days draw big crowds at the gate. Leave more time than you think you need, particularly for a group.
- Check the organiser for entry details. We did not find published ticket or entry information for the 2026 edition, so entry arrangements for the final are to be confirmed. Do not assume that arrangements for earlier matches, or earlier years, apply to the final.
How hospitality works
Hospitality at a polo final is about a better place to watch and a better day around the match. The usual elements are reserved seating with a clear view of the field, food and drink served at your table or in a lounge, and a space for a group to meet before and after play. The precise offer for the Argentine Open final is arranged on request, and we confirm what it includes in writing before you pay.
Hospitality is enquiry only. We do not publish packages or prices in an article, and we do not describe availability, because it changes. What we can do is take your dates and group size, ask for the options for the final weekend, and come back with what is possible and what it includes. We book through official channels.
If you are choosing between the two days of the final weekend, say so in your enquiry. Because the schedule for 12 and 13 December is still to be confirmed, it helps to tell us whether you could attend either day, and whether you would prefer to watch the final itself or have a flexible day on the weekend.
What to ask before you commit
Because some details are still to be confirmed, a short list of questions saves disappointment later. Ask which day your hospitality is for, and whether it is for the final itself or for another match on the final weekend. Ask what is included, in writing, and what is not. Ask what the arrangements are if the schedule changes, and what the terms are if you need to move a booking. We answer these for every enquiry before any payment is taken, and we would rather tell you something is not yet known than give you a firm answer we cannot stand behind.
Planning the trip
- Flights and timing. Plan to arrive a day or two before the final. Long-haul travellers will want time to settle, and a spare day protects you if the schedule shifts.
- Where to stay. Palermo itself has many hotels and is close to the ground. If you prefer another part of the city, check the journey time on a weekend.
- The rest of the trip. Many visitors add a visit to a polo estate outside the city, or a few days elsewhere in Argentina. Treat the final as the fixed point and plan around it.
- Travel documents. Entry requirements depend on your nationality, so check the current rules for your passport well ahead of the trip.
- Group travel. If you are a group, send us the party size early, because seating a group together is easier to arrange with notice.
