What is Tape London?

Tape is a members-style nightclub in the heart of Mayfair, operating since 2015. It sits in a converted townhouse across three intimate floors, with a sound system built for hip hop, R&B and Afrobeats. The venue's reputation for discretion and exclusivity is what keeps its clientele coming back — and what makes a table here worth chasing.

Unlike many London superclubs, Tape deliberately keeps capacity small. Around 300–350 guests at full capacity means every table matters, and the atmosphere is always intimate rather than overwhelming.

Tape London nights — which to choose?

Tape runs four main weekly nights, each with a different energy:

• Tuesday — The Getdown: Tape's midweek staple. Smaller crowd, more intimate, great for a first visit. Minimum spends are lower and the vibe is more relaxed. Ideal for groups of 4–8.
• Friday — Mixtape: The flagship night. R&B, hip hop and house from 11pm to 3:30am. Expect a full room by midnight. Tables must be booked in advance — walk-ins on the door are rarely possible.
• Saturday — Takeover: The biggest night of the week. Tape runs until 4am on Saturdays, making it the longest session. DJ sets pull from the top end of the London circuit. Minimum spends are at their highest.
• Sunday: A select Sunday session — not every week, but worth checking. More chilled, often features live DJ sets with a younger crowd.

Tape London table minimum spends (2026)

Tape London does not publish official minimum spends — they vary by night, table location and group size. Based on our experience booking tables at Tape throughout 2025 and 2026, expect the following ranges:

• Tuesday: From £800–£1,500 (tables of 4–6)
• Friday: From £2,000–£4,000 (tables of 4–8)
• Saturday: From £2,500–£6,000+ (tables of 4–10)

These are minimums, not fixed prices. All spend goes directly towards your bottles and mixers — there is no cover charge for table guests on top of this. The more premium the table position, the higher the minimum.

Best table locations at Tape

Tape's layout is split across a main dancefloor, a raised mezzanine level, and a ground floor bar area. Here's how to think about table choice:

• Mezzanine booths: The best tables in the venue. Elevated above the dancefloor, they offer a clear sightline to the DJ booth while keeping your group in a defined space. These command the highest minimum spends and book out first on Friday and Saturday.
• Dancefloor-adjacent tables: Perfect if your group wants to be in the thick of it. Lower minimum spends than mezzanine but the trade-off is less privacy and more passing traffic.
• Ground floor banquettes: More relaxed, better for conversation-heavy evenings or groups that want to dip in and out of the dancefloor.

Tape London dress code

Tape operates one of the strictest dress codes in London. Do not take risks here — the door team has turned away groups even with table reservations when the dress code wasn't met.

• Men: Smart trousers (not jeans), collared shirt or smart top, leather shoes or smart boots. Suits are always welcome.
• Women: Smart, elegant attire. The Tape crowd tends to dress up — this is not a casual night out.
• Not permitted: Trainers of any kind, sportswear, caps or hats, shorts, ripped jeans, flip flops.

Arrival time

For table holders, aim to arrive between 11pm and midnight. If you arrive after 1am on a Friday or Saturday, you may face a queue even with a table — the venue fills quickly and the door team processes walk-ins alongside table arrivals. Your promoter contact (or VIPListed) will give your name to the door list, so have your ID ready and give the name the reservation is under.
