Henley Royal Regatta 2027 is a week of rowing on the Thames, and Henley regatta hospitality sits within one of the most rule-bound social occasions of the English summer. Which enclosure you are in decides where you stand, what you wear and whether you can simply buy your way in. This guide sets out the 2027 dates, the two enclosures, the dress code as Henley publishes it, and how hospitality fits around them.
Henley Royal Regatta 2027 dates
Henley Royal Regatta 2027 runs from Tuesday 29 June to Sunday 4 July 2027, six days of racing on the Thames at Henley-on-Thames in Oxfordshire. The regatta sells its public Regatta Enclosure tickets itself, and states they go on sale in spring 2027, so there is time to decide your plan before anything can be bought. If you hope to go as a Member’s guest instead, speak to your host now, because the invitation comes before any other arrangement.
The regatta also says that winners attend the prizegiving in the Stewards’ Enclosure after the racing on Sunday, wearing club blazers or similar regatta dress. If you want the weekend atmosphere, the last days are the ones to plan around, and they are the ones people ask about first.
The two enclosures
Henley divides its spectators into two main enclosures, and the difference is not a matter of price. It is a matter of who is allowed in.
- Stewards’ Enclosure. For Members and their guests only. You cannot buy a ticket to it. Members and their guests have access to both the Stewards’ Enclosure and the Regatta Enclosure, and the Stewards’ Enclosure opens 30 minutes before racing each day. Membership is the route in, and a Member can invite guests.
- Regatta Enclosure. Open to the public. The regatta describes it as open to everyone. Tickets are not transferable and not for resale, so buy them only from the regatta itself.
If you do not know a Member, the Regatta Enclosure is the way to watch from the bank. If you are invited as a Member’s guest, the Stewards’ Enclosure dress code applies to you, and your host is expected to tell you about it.
Henley dress code, as the regatta publishes it
The rules below are taken from the regatta’s own pages and FAQs as they stood at the time of writing. They are published for the regatta in general, and the regatta may update them for 2027, so check hrr.co.uk before you buy an outfit.
Stewards’ Enclosure
Ladies: dresses or skirts with the hemline falling below the knee, jackets or blazers worn with trousers, or trouser suits. Hats are customary but not required.
Gentlemen: a lounge suit, or a jacket or blazer with trousers, with a tie, or a cravat if you prefer.
Children: children aged 10 and over are welcome with a valid adult ticket and must follow the same dress code. Younger children use the Regatta Enclosure.
Not permitted: no shorts, leggings, tracksuits or jeans. The regatta says admission will not be permitted to anyone who is not dressed appropriately, so this is enforced at the gate.
Regatta Enclosure
The regatta states that there is no dress code in the Regatta Enclosure. It describes the atmosphere as informal and relaxed. Club blazers and rowing clothing are welcome but not required, and casual clothing is acceptable.
Hospitality
For the regatta’s own hospitality, the published guidance is that smart dress is encouraged but not mandatory, and that shorts, jeans and trainers are not permitted. If you are booking a hospitality day, confirm the dress guidance for your particular marquee when the booking is made.
What to know on the day
- Food and drink. The regatta says no food or drink may be brought into the Regatta Enclosure, with the exception of small bottles of water in hot weather, and the same applies to the Stewards’ Enclosure. Both enclosures have bars, cafes and restaurants.
- Bags. Only small bags are allowed in the Regatta Enclosure and they are subject to security searches. There is no left luggage there. In the Stewards’ Enclosure, limited left luggage is available for bags no larger than an aircraft carry-on.
- Children in the Regatta Enclosure. The regatta states that children under 14 enter free with an adult holding a valid ticket, up to two per adult, subject to availability. This is the published position for the 2026 regatta, so confirm it for 2027.
- Phones. Phone calls are not permitted inside the Stewards’ Enclosure, though photos, texts and emails are fine.
How hospitality fits in
Henley hospitality sits alongside the course in riverside marquees and enclosures, with lunch, tea and a view of the racing. The regatta publishes its own hospitality information, including a hospitality-only area at Fawley Meadows where there is no lunch-only option, so it is worth reading what a given day actually includes before you choose.
We arrange riverside hospitality for Henley on request. Hospitality is enquiry only: we do not publish packages or prices in an article, and we do not describe availability, because it changes. Tell us the day you prefer, the number in your party and whether you want a seated lunch or a more flexible day, and we will come back with what is possible, booked through official channels and confirmed in writing before you pay.
One point to be clear about: arranging hospitality does not give you access to the Stewards’ Enclosure. That remains for Members and their guests only.
Planning your week
Henley is a small town and the regatta fills it. Book accommodation and travel as early as you can, plan to arrive in good time on the day, and decide your outfit against the enclosure or hospitality day you will actually be in. If you are combining Henley with other summer events, Royal Ascot 2027 falls two weeks earlier and has its own dress codes and booking calendar. You can also see rowing hospitality and all events on VIPListed.
