The Radio City Christmas Spectacular is the show most people mean when they search for Christmas in New York, and the best seats go quickly. VIPListed arranges premium seats and VIP experiences only, not standard tickets. This guide covers the 2026 dates, how the Radio City seating sections differ, how long the evening lasts and what to know before you arrive, using the details Radio City and the Rockettes publish.
Christmas Spectacular 2026 dates
The 2026 season at Radio City Music Hall runs from 4 November 2026 to 4 January 2027. The Rockettes state that this is a run of 230 performances, the most since the show first played in 1933. That is a lot of dates, but not all of them are equal. The weeks around Thanksgiving, the second half of December and the days between Christmas and New Year are the ones most people want, and they are the ones where a specific seat in a specific section is hardest to find.
The production has also changed for 2026. The Rockettes describe a brand-new scene, which brings the total to ten Rockettes numbers, and new immersive technology that gives a fresh view of the precision dancing. If you saw the show a few years ago, this is a reason to go again rather than a repeat.
Performance times vary by day. The current calendar is on the Rockettes website, so check it for the date you have in mind before you plan anything around it.
The seating sections and what you see from each
Radio City Music Hall is a single great theatre with a very large stage, and the view changes noticeably by level. The venue publishes four areas for the Christmas Spectacular, and describes them this way.
- Orchestra. The closest option. Radio City describes it as an up-close view of the Rockettes, and it is the choice if you want to see faces, costumes and the detail of the footwork.
- First Mezzanine. Recommended for a great view of the Great Stage. It is the level many people choose when they want the whole picture without being at the front.
- Second Mezzanine. The venue says it shows the dance formations and the entire Great Stage from above, which suits the large kick lines and the geometry of the numbers.
- Third Mezzanine. Recommended for the choreography and for the immersive projections on the ceiling, which are part of the 2026 show.
There is no single best section. If the Rockettes are the point of the evening, the Orchestra is the closest. If you want the full stage and the formations, the middle levels are the ones to look at. If the ceiling and the scale of the room matter to you, the higher levels have their own case. Radio City notes that seat availability can change at the time of purchase, so a section you want on one date may not be there on the next.
How long the show is
The official FAQ says the Christmas Spectacular runs for 90 minutes with no intermission. That makes it easy to plan around: a late-afternoon show leaves the evening free, and an evening show fits ahead of a late supper. It also means there is no natural break, so it helps to be settled before the lights go down.
Arriving, bags and children
The practical rules are strict and worth reading once, because they affect a group more than a couple.
- Doors and timing. Doors open one hour before the performance start time. The venue asks guests to arrive no later than 30 minutes before showtime, because everyone must be seated when the show begins. Latecomers wait until a break between scenes before they are shown to their seats.
- Bags. Bags are allowed if they fit comfortably under your seat, and bags larger than 22 by 14 by 9 inches are not permitted. There is no bag check, other than for strollers, so travel light.
- Children. Children under 2 do not need their own ticket but must sit on a parent or guardian’s lap, without a seat of their own.
- Digital tickets. Tickets are shown on a smartphone, so download them in advance.
- Changes. The FAQ states that all ticket sales are final, with no refunds or exchanges. Settle your date before you commit.
- Accessibility. Accessible seating is handled through the venue’s Accessibility Services Department, so raise it at the start of planning rather than at the end.
Planning the night around the show
Because the performance is 90 minutes with doors an hour ahead, the evening has a clear shape. Plan to be near the hall about an hour before the start, allow time for security and finding your section, and decide whether dinner comes before or after. Midtown is busy in the run-up to Christmas, so a reservation made well ahead is sensible, and so is leaving a little more time to cross town than the map suggests.
If you are travelling from the UK or Europe, build the show into the days around it rather than treating it as the only fixed point. Many groups choose a weekday date, which tends to be calmer than a weekend, and put the lunch or dinner they most want on a different day. For a family group the earlier show times are usually easier. For a corporate or client evening, the later ones fit a dinner afterwards.
Booking early and booking as a group
Seating a group together is the hard part of any popular show. Four seats side by side in the Orchestra or First Mezzanine on a December weekend are a very different request from two seats on a Tuesday in November. The more specific you are about section, date and party size, the earlier you need to ask.
We arrange premium seats and VIP options, where the venue offers them, on request, and we book through official channels. Tell us your dates, your group size and the section you prefer, and we will come back with what is available, with the total confirmed in writing before you pay. Groups and corporate bookings are welcome on request. You can also see all events on VIPListed, browse culture and live shows, or read our note on UK ticket resale law if you are weighing where to buy.
